Walk and Talk Therapy
Sudbury has some beautiful countryside walks one of which is Friar’s Meadow is situated next to the river stour, and an old railway walk both have lovely views.

Walk and Talk therapy is as it sounds it is the therapist and client walking outside and talking, this has been helpful to many clients.

Walking and not looking at the therapist in a therapy room has enabled them to talk more freely and open.

Walk and Talk Therapy has many benefits this includes:
· Walking Increases energy levels and allows us to feel less inhibited and more in touch with our feelings.
· Promotes clearer thought processes.
· Decreases depression and anxiety symptoms.
· Introduction to walking as fitness routine and maintain an active lifestyle.

Clinical Supervision – Using the CRAFTS model
Supervision is a professional relationship between me the supervisor and you the supervisee which will aid and help you as a counsellor or as a trainee, reflect on the different aspects within your therapeutic relationship with clients and with those outside of the therapy sessions that may impact your therapeutic work.

Supervision is an important role for our well-being and self-care because it gives us the opportunity to voice and discuss any concerns issues you may be having within the job role, client work, caseloads and any CPD courses you have attended or have looked at to aid your therapeutic work.

Exchanging information and discussing issues maintains good ethical standards and support within the workplace and as counsellors within our job role to work within our ethical guidelines. Supervision is an ethical requirement with membership bodies BACP/UKCP/NCPS.

Supervision is the time where we can monitor and strengthen your limits. It is not a form of attack it is a form of support don’t be afraid to voice your opinion you have a right to have your say.

Make the most of your supervision time see it as another form of CPD, Be prepared, have questions ready, list of your concerns, think of courses you would like to attend and discuss them and how they would aid your work performance as well as voicing areas you need extra support with.

The BACP Good Practice in Action 043 – Supervision within counselling professions states:

“Supervision in the context of the BACPEthical Framework for the Counselling Professions (BACP, 2018) is a universally accepted feature of the training, accreditation, and ongoing development of therapeutic practitioners in the UK:
Supervision is essential to how practitioners sustain good practice throughout their working life. Supervision provides practitioners with regular and ongoing opportunities to reflect in depth about all aspects of their practice in order to work as effectively, safely and ethically as possible. Supervision also sustains the personal resourcefulness required to undertake the work.
(Good Practice, point 60)”

I work within the CRAFTS MODEL OF SUPERVISION
Creativeness
Reflectiveness
Awareness-based
Focused
Transformative
Systemic

This is a holistic approach to supervision which draws on elements from both Proctor’s Model and the Seven-Eyed Model. The CRAFTS model integrates creativity, reflective practice, focus, transformation and systemic thinking.

In a world where many people are battling stress, isolation, anxiety, and taking time to slow down is no longer a luxury it’s a necessity community groups play a powerful role in bringing people together and supporting overall well-being. One approach that’s gaining momentum is the “Relax, Chat, and Create” session—a simple, welcoming gathering where participants can unwind, connect with others, and express themselves through creative activities.

These sessions are more than just arts and crafts—they’re a form of community-based care that combines creativity, conversation, and calm to support both mental and emotional health.

Kendall Counselling has brought the concept of "Relax, Chat, and Create" sessions to Sudbury :a simple yet powerful format that brings people together in a low-pressure environment to unwind, connect, and express themselves creatively.

"Relax, Chat, and Create" sessions offer a structured pause from constant notifications, deadlines, and stress. The relaxed pace allows participants to mentally unplug and focus on the present moment. It's not about productivity or performance—it’s about process, presence, and play.

The combination of creative expression, mindful relaxation, and human connection is beneficial for mental wellness. These sessions provide a preventative approach to mental health, promoting emotional resilience and well-being through regular, gentle self-care.

No special skills are required these sessions accessible to people of backgrounds, and abilities. The focus is on expression, not expertise. Refreshments and materials are supplied via Kendall Counselling.

"Relax, Chat, and Create" sessions are more than just arts and crafts—they’re a meaningful antidote to burnout, isolation, and overwork. They remind us that creativity isn’t just about making things—it’s about making space: for reflection, connection, and self-care.
